Pedal Queensland, Ride for Rewards is a new online cycle challenge in 2020 made for riders, by riders (Bicycle Queensland). Ride the kilometres in your own back yard, your local trails, bike paths or favourite roads. You can even ride from the comfort of your own lounge room! Better yet join us on Sunday 30th August for Queensland’s Biggest Ride Day as we attempt to get as many Queenslander’s as possible out riding & celebrate cycling.

There are three (3) different challenges you can choose from when signing up to Pedal Queensland, these include; 100km, 300km and 500km. Riders are encouraged to select which challenge they think they can complete over the month of August.
The only difference (apart from the kilometres of riding you choose to do) is the amount of rewards you can unlock. The more riding, the more rewards! Every challenge will has access to the photo competitions, Queensland’s Biggest Ride Day, weekly emails and the chance to win!

You will then be asked to create a username and password and then link your fitness app. Once completed you will be taken to your rider dashboard. Here you can view your progress, redeem your rewards, view leader boards and edit your account details/profile.

During registration you will be asked to create a username and password. Please remember these, as well as the email you registered with as these will be you login details. Navigate to the top right hand of the website to the “LOGIN” button to get signed in. To log out of your account click on “Account” and navigate to the bottom of the page to the “LOG OUT” button. YES! Whether you have a road bike, triathlon, mountain bike, cyclocross, cruiser, commuter or even a unicycle you can participate in Pedal QLD. E-bikes are also permitted as long as they do not exceed 250 watts, making them illegal in Queensland.

Bicycle Queensland has crafted numerous ways to detect cheaters, however we do realise that no matter what we do, or how we structure the event, people will find ways to cheat….like putting their Garmin watch on their dog! Please be ensured there are no prizes for first place therefore, if someone wants to cheat, we see it as they are only cheating themselves.

Queensland’s Biggest Ride Day is on Sunday 30th August and is where we attempt to get all participants to log a ride and upload a photo in the hope to see as many Queenslander’s out riding as possible & celebrate cycling. By participating in the ride, you will also go in the draw to win some AMAZING prizes from our sponsors – a person from each region will win big!

It is not compulsory to ride on Sunday the 30th of August – but we highly recommend it!

The main challenge runs for 4 weeks from the 1st of August to 31st August, however if it takes you longer to compete your chosen distance, the event (including your rider profile dashboard) will stay open for a further month until September 30th. Please note that the weekly photo competitions, the main “Bicycle Pack Giveaway” and the QLD’s Biggest Ride Day will take place ONLY in the initial 4-week main event. Therefore, if it takes you longer to finish you will only receive your rewards after that time.

Upon finishing your chosen challenge, you will unlock your final rewards for you to claim. If you complete your challenge before the event finishes, you can continue to log rides and enter our photo competitions & will still receive the weekly emails with nutritional, education and training plans. It is encouraged to continue riding & join on for Queensland’s Biggest Ride Day on the 30th of August!

The Pedal Queensland event site will predominantly run during a 4-week promotional period throughout all of August from the 1st to the 31st with it continuing to allow access up until September 30th to allow riders to finish their challenge. After this date, your profile will become redundant and the website taken down preparing for next year’s event.

When setting up your profile you will be prompted to either create or join a team (or skip this step). When creating a team you will need to have a team name ready (no special characters) to complete the process and upon completion a unique code will be created which you can share with your friends to invite them to join your team. If joining a team, simply enter the code shared with you and click the “JOIN TEAM” button.

When joining you will be given the option to input this unique code & join the team.. Make sure to hit the “Join Team” button while logged into your account, this will automatically connect you to your team.

Unfortunately once you have registered & chosen your challenge you can’t change or swap to a different challenge. We suggest your choose wisely before selecting to ensure it’s the right challenge for you!

Pedal QLD is proud to be encouraging regional rivalry and friendly competition within Queensland. During registration you will be able to select which region of Queensland you will be representing through your rides. By selecting the region specific to you we will then be able to ensure your rewards are specific to you. E.g. A rider who selects Far North Queensland will get a reward for a Local bike shop in Cairns as opposed to a rider who selects Brisbane South who will get one at a Brisbane based bike shop. This is also a chance to see which region is riding the most on our leader boards and encourage friendly competition.

There is no minimum age to enter this event however any riders signing up under the age of 18 will need a parental signature & consent (done during registration). We also recommend that anyone under the age of 16 participating in Pedal Queensland should be accompanied by an adult whenever riding. Please remember that every registrant will require a unique email address, this includes children.

Logging Rides & Linking Fitness Apps

Pedal QLD supports Strava & Garmin. You will be prompted to link your fitness app during registration (or leave to a later date). Please ensure you have your activity set to “RIDE” to ensure data is shared correctly.

For STRAVA, it will take you to a page to either sign in, create an account or your device will recognise your account straight away. From here all you need to do is allow the connection & you will be successfully linked!

For GARMIN, it will also take you to a page to connect with Pedal QLD & allow the sharing of information between platforms. You may or may not need to sign in to do this. Once these steps are completed you should be notified that linking was successful.

For FITBIT you will also be taken to a page to login using your fitbit account details. You will have to allow the information sharing between platforms & then should be all ready to go!

If you don’t have a Garmin or fitbit device, signing up for Strava is free & easy. You can either download the app or use the web browser;

Alternatively, Pedal Queensland does offer the option to upload rides manually (see question below for more details). This runs on an honor system with the option to upload a proof of ride.

Simply go about recording your ride in the usual manner on your chosen fitness app (Strava or Garmin) and as long as it’s been linked you won’t need to do anything except check back to see the ride has uploaded successfully and track your progress. If you don’t have any of the supported apps you can upload your rides manually through your rider dashboard. Please note that your progress bar will updated every 2 hours.

If you don’t have any of the supported fitness apps you can manually add any km’s you have cycled directly into your Pedal QLD profile through your dashboard. Here you will find a “Manually enter a Ride” button on the right hand side below your progress bar. Click on this link and simply enter your ride information. Necessary data includes; distance in kms, duration, ride date and start time. Be sure to hit “UPLOAD RIDE” to ensure the km’s you cycled are added to your profile. We also suggest providing a “proof of ride” in the form of a photo or screen grab.

Orange Sky Australia is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homeless – an idea founded in a Brisbane garage by two 20-year-old mates. Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett installed a couple of washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van, visiting parks in Brisbane to wash and dry clothes for free. With an aim to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough, they stumbled on something much bigger and more significant – the power of a conversation. Now facilitated by more than 1000 volunteers, Orange Sky has expanded to 20 services across Australia and generates over six tonnes of laundry every week. Most importantly, Orange Sky volunteers have engaged in more than 100,000 hours of conversations to date, helping to dispel myths about homelessness and positively connect communities all around Australia. Visit the website here:

While it is not compulsory to fundraise for Orange Sky as part of Pedal QLD, we do highly recommend & encourage singing up to fundraise for their cause. You can do this by visiting the Just Giving Platform here.

You can then either create a fundraising page or make a one of donation.

To create a fundraising page visit the Just Giving website here.

From here you can either set up an individual fundraising page (you will have to create a just giving account) or make a one off donation as well.

You will be able to share your unique profile page on Just Giving to friends & family and encourage others to help raise funds for Orange Sky.

Yes, all donations over $2.00 made to Orange Sky will be tax deductible and you will receive a receipt direct from Orange Sky Australia.

Competitions, Rewards & Prizes

Depending on which challenge you choose to complete & which region you have dedicated your riding towards, your rewards will differ as they have been personalized. To see a full overview of the rewards hover over the LEARN MORE Tab. If claiming your reward in store before the expiry date you can also present the web page as proof.

Each voucher is unique and will have different expiry dates. These dates and T&C’s will be printed on the voucher and available for you to read when downloading the voucher reward. Alternatively, you can read the Conditions of Entry upon registering which outlines this in further detail. If you have any issues or questions please contact
